SDPC Holds Mental Health Check-In for First-Year Students

The Student Development and Placement Center (SDPC) of Notre Dame of Jolo College recently organized a Mental Health Check-In for first-year students, held at the NDJC covered court on December 2, 2025. The event was themed “Mental Health Check-In: Because You Can’t Pour from an Empty Cup.”

Ms. Noor Shaheen H. Askalani, RPm, Director of SDPC, delivered the opening message, emphasizing the significance of mental wellness in achieving academic success. This was followed by an engaging icebreaker session led by Ms. Rhabya A. Sahidaini, RPm, which helped energize the atmosphere.

The main highlight of the event was a session on Building Resilience and Self-Care Habits, conducted by Mr. Al-Zhaidimier Tackong, RPm. The session provided students with practical strategies for managing stress and navigating college life. Interactive games were also played to foster engagement among the freshmen.

Additionally, the SDPC presented the College Adjustment Scale (CAS) Results and Interventions, aiming to help students understand their adjustment concerns and available support. An open forum followed, allowing students to raise questions and concerns.

Mr. Mohammad Nur Tackong, President of the Psych Club, delivered the closing remarks. This initiative demonstrates the SDPC’s commitment to supporting students’ well-being and equipping NDJC freshmen with the emotional resilience needed to thrive in college.

The event was a testament to the SDPC’s dedication to fostering a supportive environment for students to grow and succeed.
