The Notre Dame of Jolo College – Community Extension Services (NDJC-CES) and Peace Animators’ Club (PAC), together with partner schools and organizations observed the Mindanao Week of Peace on November 25-28, 2025. This event is regarded as a special week for taking importance of peace and love among the people of Mindanao.
The event launched with a program of solidarity at the NDJC Covered Court, wherein Fr. Ross B. Kapunan, OMI, MASRC, delivered an inspirational message, followed by a Message of Peace by Dr. Raymond Delos Reyes, LPT. The participants were then divided into groups, performed a yelling activity, and repacked free meals for the following day’s gesture.
Subsequently, on November 26, 2025, the participants grouped at the town’s center and at the Sulu Provincial Jail, offering peace meals to 500 pedicab drivers and 450 inmates. The group took importance of food-to-share initiatives as a bridge to form peace inside and outside of our shelters.
The following day, the organizers held an orientation at the Imbi Theya Beach Resort Covered Court. The session was about proper waste management and how this affects our community. To apply the learnings, the participants conducted a clean-up drive on the same day at the beach, emphasizing that cleaning can be a way to cultivate peace with our environment.
To end the week-long program, the participants then reunited the next day at the NDJC Covered Court to celebrate the success of the prior activities, with them marking themselves on the Tree of Peace and having a Salo-Salo Meal activity.
The series of event did not just stress the weight of having peace with other people, but it also underscored the feeling of having peace within ourselves.
