BSN Class Progenies Lusciniae 2025 Receive Caps and Badge, Light Candles

Student nurses from Class Progenies Lusciniae officially received their caps and badges and lit their candles during the 36th Cap, Badge and Candlelight Ceremony held on October 11, 2025, at the NDJC Covered Court. The event was attended by school administrators, guests, faculty members of the Health Sciences Department, and parents and guardians.

The ceremony, themed “Innovate, Advocate, Transform: The Nurses’ Blueprint for Changing World,” marked the students’ formal entry into the nursing profession. It began with the Processional of Class Progenies Lusciniae, followed by the Opening Remarks of Dr. Rosalyn S. Hashim, RN, MAN, Dean of the College of Nursing and Midwifery.

Dr. Mitchelle Angeli S. Tarsum, LPT, Vice President for Academic Affairs, presented the candidates, who were accepted by Rev. Fr. Ross B. Kapunan, OMI, MASRC, College President. Dr. Hashim, assisted by faculty members Aniza E. Sindayen, RN, MAN, Yasmin A. Mansul-Sia, RN, MAN, Dr. Rezmona H. Sajiri, RN, MAN, Fahd S. Schuck, RN, MAN, and Khalid I. Navata, RN, MAN., led the Imposition of Caps and Badges.

Aldisa C. Asula portrayed the Entrance of Florence Nightingale, followed by the Lighting of Candles. Norul Hedzna M. Hadjail led the Nurse’s Pledge, and the class sang their batch songs “Dream It Possible” and “Through the Years,” conducted by Mr. Frediemar K. Albesa.

Lily J. Amilhamja, RN, Top 6 in the SPLE for Nurses 2025, delivered the keynote speech, encouraging the students to remain strong in the face of challenges. “Let your setbacks be your comeback,” she said.

Rev. Fr. Ross B. Kapunan delivered an inspirational message, reminding the students of their calling as future nurses. Rania I. Sanhaji expressed gratitude to the faculty, administrators, parents, and everyone who supported their journey.

The ceremony concluded with the singing of the PNA Hymn and the Notre Dame Hymn, followed by the recessional. A photo opportunity and participation of selected first-year nursing students as ushers and usherettes marked the end of the event.
