In celebration of the 51st National Nutrition Month with the theme “Food and Nutrition Security, Make it a Priority! Sapat na Pagkain, Karapatan Natin!”, the Notre Dame of Jolo College – College of Nursing and Midwifery held a Fruit Fiesta Competition on July 31, 2025, at NDJC Main Campus Under the Tree.
The competition, which featured the second-year nursing students’ creativity in fruits and vegetables arrangement, was organized by Mr. Thomas Francis M. Putong, RN, along with the NCM 212 (Nutrition and Diet Therapy) clinical instructors to promote creativity and appreciation for locally nutritious fruits, foster healthy eating habits, and encourage teamwork among students.
Present in the event were the NDJC College President Fr. Ross B. Kapunan, OMI, , the Dean of College of Nursing and Midwifery Dr. Rosalyn Hashim, RN, MAN, the RLE Coordinator Mr. Khalid Navata, RN, MAN, a clinical instructor Ms. Sandra Sampang, RN, and the Office of Student Affairs and Welfare Director Mr. Rhazzel Alan Asda, MPA, who served as judges for the competition.
Among the ten competing groups from three sections of second year level, only three groups emerged victorious.
The Group 3 from BSN 2-A proclaimed as champion of the said competition, while the Group 6 from BSN 2-C, and the Group 4 from BSN 2-A placed as first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.
The competition concluded with a closing message from Ms. Nurmina Sali, RN, MAN.
