To protect its community, the second dose for ResBakuna sa Notre Dame was successfully held today, August 5, at Notre Dame of Jolo for Girls Gymnasium; continuing its collaboration with the two main hospitals in Jolo: Integrated Provincial Health Office – Sulu (IPHO) and Sulu Sanitarium.
This event was organized by the vaccination committee which was composed of Bro. Angelo Roberto T. Diana, OMI, MBA (Vice President for Administration), Dr. Sherhata Adjid-Sanaani and Dr. Rhea Tan-Warid. The vaccination process was carried out by 1 doctor and 24 staff from IPHO, and 4 doctors from Sulu Sanitarium.
From the 490 vaccinees who took the first dose of SinoVac last July 7, 479 of them were able to receive their second doses, rendering them fully vaccinated. However, in an interview with the Notre Dame of Jolo College President, Fr. Eduardo M. Santoyo OMI, PhD advised to continue the observation of health and safety protocols against the dreadful virus, especially the Delta variant.
In connection to this, face-to-face classes are still uncertain to happen as the Notre Dame of Jolo schools prioritize the health and welfare of the staff and students. It is, however, clear that college students will be put first in terms of face-to-face learning as they are 18 years old or older, according to the college president.
As a response, some of the vaccinees were interviewed about how they felt after receiving complete doses of vaccines. Some of them experienced the same side effects, such as heavy feeling in the arm which was used as the vaccination site, as compared to the first dose where they felt no discomfort.
Furthermore, some vaccinees together and in line with the Notre Dame community encouraged those who have not received their vaccines yet, to do so, in order to prevent further transmission of the virus.
