On September 09, 2021, in preparation for the election 2022, the Commission on Election conducted a Satellite Voter’s Registration at the Notre Dame Of Jolo College- Senior High School (NDJC-SHS) covered court in partnership with the NDJC administration. The newly constructed school facility was utilized by students and personnels of NDJC for the event which served for various purposes including application for registration, transfer of registration record, change/correction of entries, deactivation of registration record, inclusion of registration record, and reinstatement of name in voters’ list.
Upon registering, the applicant would first fill out the Voter’s Registration Form as for Step 1, then will proceed to Step 2 for the Application and Precinct Numbers, and then Biometric afterwards for the third and last step.
“It has two primary objectives. One objective of course, is to encourage all people to exercise their right to suffrage or the right to vote. To choose, to elect the public servants. Because leadership, of course will be crucial in terms of promoting genuine peace as well as development in any country or any locality especially here in Sulu. Second, the other goal is to facilitate the registration for new voters, as well as also facilitate possible transfer of voters from other localities, other precincts to those here in Jolo.” said by Fr. Eduardo M. Santoyo, OMI, PHD about the said event.
According to the data given by the COMELEC Jolo, this one day event accumulated a total of 213 applicants which includes 4 applications for transfer, 6 applications for reactivation, 1 application for transfer within, 3 applications for correction, and 199 applications for new registration, and are still bound for approval and disapproval of application subject to Election Registration Board (ERB) hearing on October 18, 2021.
Furthermore, the Office of Election Officer-Jolo spearheaded by Election Officer III Atty. Hadjail, extended their deepest gratitude to the NDJC administration for their full support which resulted to the smooth flow of the event.
