Can students still study during this time of pandemic?

Can they study with minimal internet connectivity?

How? It is through Notre Dame of Jolo College's blended learning option.

Is Blended learning already in practice at NDJC?

Some instructors are using technological learning resources in their subjects. This time we will intensify its application to a level never seen before.

Blended learning is online resources (content outside of class like videos, slide presentation etc) + in person instruction. The online resources will be put inside the USB flashdrive readily download so students with very limited internet connectivity need not to worry.

Flipped Classroom is flipping what students used to do. It means student can study at his/her own pace or rhythm. He can pause, rewatch and read more of the material unfamiliar to him.

Question: Is Blended learning same as online classes?

Blended learning IS NOT the same with online classes. But it makes use of online resource in learning.

Unlike online classes, where all of the materials and interactions are online, blended-classrooms still account on face-to-face interactions (limited) between students and teachers.

The face-to-face interaction will be limited (once the govt has lifted restriction). Also having in the mind the minimum health standards of the new normal like physical distancing, wearing of masks etc.

Have you ever found yourself lost in a discussion? Well blended learning could be good for you.

Traditional-Time based

All students material, are tested, more on at the same time regardless of individual performance or GAPS in knowledge.

Blended learning-Mastery Based

Some students...need more time, need less time gives as much time as NEEDED. STUDENTS move forward when READY

If it is not allowed to have face to face classroom, where is the classroom then? How can the students be monitored and have real time discussion? It is through Chatting (group chats)

Question: Do students have to painstakingly download these resources given the problematic internet connectivity? NO!

These learning resources like Word processors, PDF, E-book, slide presentation, videos, audio files will be provided by NDJC.

We got you covered.

They will be given to your parent (guardian) ideally on enrollment day. To maximize transaction and minimize contact and exposure. Why parent? Students under 20 years old are not allowed under GCQ guidelines for now.

Question: Will students need to download learning material using data or internet connection? NO

Each College Student will be given USB FLASHDRIVE ready files containing;

  • 1. Syllabi (all subjects enrolled)
  • 2. Modules
  • 3. Video files, Audio Files, Word, PDF, Powerpoint Presentation file and E-books (of each subject)*
  • These downloaded and readily available files will minimize the need of the students to access the internet foe downloading. We got it all covered

Question: How will this be given? Upon enrollment, the parent will be given the complete files. Why parent? Since students under 20 years old are restricted to go out, parent (one per student) casn do enrollment process for them.

Why use these terms? It is because they are exact and precise. We are an academic institution. Thus, we intend to be as precise as possible to avoid confusion.

The use of REAL time activities is for deepening since there is no or limited face-to-face class. Chatting even thru free data is just but fine. These Synchronous activities become the "VIRTUAL CLASSROOMS" of the students.

Video conferencing is an option but not recommended.

    Question: Why use facebook messenger?

*Facebook messenger is preferred due to its accessibility & affordability (free-data option). Students can participant real time activity without cost (Free data).

Every Academic Department will create a Facebook* group chat for all students under its department. Student Facebook group chats will be a venue for real-time (synchronous) and offline (asynchronous) activities. Real time activities like sessions consultations or dic=scussion to elaborate certain topic with students. Q&A type of exercises can be done in chat groups . Offline activities or assignments like output based paperworks, case study, research, video production, sound mixing, etc.

Video conference is an open option but not recommended due to connectivity issues.

Note: Internet connection is minimal. The use of free data would do. Since no learning material will be downloaded from the internet. All learning materials are contained in the books, handouts and flashdrive files.

    Question: How about instructions.

Each subject will have a learning module of all unit and topics with instructions.

He cannot since he could not be assessed or join the "Virtual Classroom" in the sychronous activities like real time chat group discussion.
